FRP pipe winding technology can manufacture various products. Such as FRP pipes, storage tanks, gas cylinders, wind blades, support poles, telephone poles, badminton rackets, etc.
The winding molding (FW) process is a manufacturing method in which the mold is rotated so that the attachments are evenly covered on the mold according to a preset path. We call it FRP pipe winding technology.
The characteristic of this method is that the fiber winding rule is according to the force of the product . And the cross angle of the glass fiber is the key factor of the FRP strength . So by adjusting the cross angle of the glass fiber, can realize control the manufacturing section of the mechanical strength of the product.
Compared with the traditional FRP manufacturing process, the winding process can realize semimechanized production. And the product quality is relatively stable.
The winding process now is relatively complete. Can divide it into the following three types from the difference of attachments:
Dry winding:
Dry winding: Use prepreg for winding, and use machine programming to evenly wind the resin-impregnated fiber onto the mold. This process is clean, the working environment is sanitary. And the product quality is excellent.
However , the disadvantage is that the winding equipment is expensive, the products manufacture by winding have lower shear strength among the FRP pipe winding products.
Wet winding:
This kind of winding method has a high popularity rate. It is a process in which glass fiber yarn passes fill with resin through a groove before winding, so that the fiber yarn sticks the resin to the mold and forms together.
The advantages:①The cost is 40% lower than the method (1); ②The product has good air tightness, because the wet winding tension is too large, the resin glue will squeeze out the foam and fill the gap; ③The fibers are in parallel arrange ; ④The resin surrounds the fibers , Increase the coefficient of wear resistance; ⑤ It belongs to the higher efficiency among the three types of FRP pipe winding production
On the other hand , The disadvantages are: ①Resin is easy to splash and the operating environment is poor; ②Comparative method (1), its fiber content and finished product quality are not easy to control; ③There are few types of resin available for wet winding.
Semi-dry winding:
After the fiber is dipped, in the process of winding to the core mold, a device similar to an oven is added to accelerate the curing of the resin; compared with wet winding, it can reduce the bubble content in the product .
Above all , The most common one is the wet winding method. And the dry winding method is suitable for high-performance, high-precision glass fiber reinforced plastic pipe winding.
